51 hours ...

Ivan has been a CAT 5 for a total of 51 hours (12 hours, 9 hours, and 30 hours, respectively) ... 9 hours shy of the 60 hours, but well short of the consecutive hours at CAT 5 status ... 54 (by Hurricane Dog in 1950) ...

Ivan is only the 3rd storm to attain CAT 5 status three separate times ... Allen in 1980, and Isabel 2003 ... on best track analysis from the NHC archives, the last two of Isabel was only for a 6 hour period ..
