Eye will probably go right over Pensacola

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I can tell you conditions here in Pensacola are deteriorating rapidly. I'm about 16 miles inland and the winds are becoming severe. Heavy squalls and horizontal rain. I can't believe we still have power but I'm thankful so far.

Pensacola will probably get the eastern eyewall, but at this point, I'd say that "Gulf Shores", AL, is about to be wiped off the map, with the "direct hit"

CNN has one of its people there... should be interesting to watch.

Especially if the eye goes right over, which it looks like it may

Looks like it wobbled back west and nearer to Mobile Bay.

I still say the west eye will scrape it and not pile water as badly as an east quadrant ram. However the eye's very low pressure makes water rise by natural vacuum so Mobile Bay could see some serious water rises if he doesn't start hooking fast. The eye is so distorted on radar that it is hard to follow.

No doubt Gulf Shores is teed up for major destruction. I was just watching the CNN man there with a tree that fell next him. He said they are in a secure hotel. Gary Tuchman is his name.

Gary Tuchman is da man! He is in all major hurricanes...like Fran, Floyd, Frances, Charley. His reports are excellent.

..the pressure bubble is a myth...surge only caused by wind.
