if jeanne does survive hispaniols as a depression or weak ts, the sst's are cooler north of jeanne in the bahamas due to frances, and they are much colder in the gom due to ivan.

Jeanne is doing what its expected too. Hold together over Hispanola and PR since it wasn't greatly affected by the huge peaks.
After this, it was NOT expected to become anything more than Category 2 hurricane.
So whats with all the revelations lately?
It wasn't suppose to become a major hurricane, but the ocean is more than warm enuf and conditions should permit up to a two atleast.

The waters through the bahamas, and up to the florida coast line will support a CAT4... right off the florida coast line it will still support a CAT5...
That is going by the mathmatical requirements for the storm to be able to sustain itself.
Also... due to the strong gulfstream, those waters throughout the bahamas will warm very quickly.
