western jersey along the delware,

major evac's because of flooding.. river up higher than has been seen in 30 years.. and still rising 10 ft more is expected..

my home town is under water and many surrounding.. Two major dams north of it have broke ..

HQ - I don't know where Stockton is, but try this link. There are lots of flood statements for New Jersey.

FOUR TO EIGHT INCHES OF RAIN FROM THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE IVAN
HAS PRODUCED RAPID RISES AND RECORD FLOODING ON MANY SMALL STREAMS
IN EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND WESTERN NEW JERSEY TODAY. AS THIS WATER
MOVES DOWNSTREAM...MAJOR FLOODING IS EXPECTED ALONG THE DELAWARE
RIVER TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. FLOODING FROM THIS EVENT IS EXPECTED TO
SURPASS THE JANUARY 1996 EVENT, AND IN MANY LOCATIONS...WATER WILL
REACH LEVELS NOT EXPERIENCED SINCE THE CONNIE AND DIANE FLOODS IN
AUGUST 1955. RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES ALONG THE DELAWARE RIVER ARE
URGED TO TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTIONS TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY.
MOTORISTS ARE URGED NOT TO DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS. DRIVERS
CAN LOSE CONTROL IN JUST A FEW INCHES OF WATER. IN ADDITION, ROAD
BEDS MAY BE WASHED OUT UNDER FLOOD WATERS. TURN AROUND...DON/T DROWN.
SOME SPECIFIC CREST FORECASTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
A CREST OF 29 TO 30 FEET IS EXPECTED NEAR TOCKS ISLAND SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. FLOOD STAGE AT TOCKS ISLAND IS 21.0 FEET.
A CREST OF 27 TO 28 FEET IS EXPECTED AT BELVIDERE SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. FLOOD STAGE AT BELVIDERE IS 22.0 FEET.
A CREST OF 36 TO 37 FEET IS EXPECTED AT EASTON LATE SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. FLOOD STAGE AT EASTON IS 22.0 FEET.
A CREST OF 34 TO 35 FEET IS EXPECTED AT RIEGELSVILLE LATE SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. FLOOD STAGE AT RIEGELSVILLE IS 22.0 FEET.

huricanwatcher -- your flood scenario scares me more than a hurricane landfall. I hope you and your neighbors suffer minimal damage.

my mom always told me about the flood of 55..... and it was like the 100 year flood here in 1999 with floyd....... thought would never happen again...

well folks.... 54 years later... looks like we have another diane.....

Thanks. Most of my family is in Mercer County, NJ. Stockton is on the river in Hunterdon just slightly north of New Hope, PA. Thanks for the link.

I well remember the Floods of 55 when all the homes along the river were underwater and the steel bridge washed out totally between Trenton and Yardley, PA. (my hometown). Guess I'm giving away my age here-oh, well, it's all relative!!! :wink:

my dad saw houses floating by in the flood waters of '55 in waterbury ct.

yet i still bought a house on a river.......

river is full to the brim, but ok. (ramapo river)

I better tell my friend who has land right next to the Delaware to get the hell out of there!! He just started building a house so no he doesn't have a tv or radio to hear this and I cant call him BUT he has to call someone else since his cell doesnt work there and he doesnt have a telephone yet! I was there a couple of times and the water is only about 2 and a half feet deep on his side and about 6-8ft on the other side on A REGULAR DAY! Now its expected to rise to around 27-29ft!! Flood stage there is 17 ft!

Here are the highest crests there!
Top 5 Historical Crests
(1) 26.4 ft on 08/19/1955
(2) 23.19 ft on 05/23/1942
(3) 22.18 ft on 01/20/1996
(4) 20.9 ft on 02/11/1981
(5) 20.07 ft on 03/22/1948

26.4ft is highest and with 27-29ft expected from this it could break the record easy!

Where he's at he has a little hill to go down to get to the water which blocks any flooding but this is no regular flood! That hill is around 15-18 ft high maybe thats too high but around there. He said the most he got was like 8 ft but he only has the land for like 3 years and doesnt know about 96 or 55 !

Its going to be pretty bad there! Atleast the house he is building is much higher up and will not be affected.

Scary but I would love to go and see this happen and get some footage!
