EXPERIMENTAL HURRICANE FORECAST
TROPICAL STORM JEANNE
NJN WEATHER CENTER
220PM SUN SEPT 19TH 2004
Maybe it's because I'm new to the forecasting game.. But I'm baffled at Jeanne's progress or less there of. She is not going anywhere. Just drifting around the open Atlantic..
Jeanne is currently a minimal tropical storm with 45 mph winds. She was a hurricane just a few days back. She could regain hurricane status if she begins to become better organized. This will be known with due time.
The official track for the NHC has Jeanne not really making much progress in the next 5 days. She'll go north a little.. then make like a SE movement and do a complete circle before headed back west. Sounds to me like they don't have a clue.
Despite that.. they have a better idea than I do and that track actually seems plausible considering the storm is weak and not really going anywhere.
The NHC also tries to bring this back up to a hurricane. I for 1 do believe that could occur as long as Jeanne stays away from shear or any other things to not cause any strengthening.
Here is my newest 5 day outlook on Jeanne
Rest of today: Meandering in the ATL.. moving Northbound. Max Winds: 50 mph
Monday: Still drifting North. Max Winds: 55 mph
Tuesday: Beginning to hook back East perhaps. Max Winds: 60 mph
Wednesday: Strengthening near a hurricane.. Max Winds: 65 mph
Thursday: Becoming a hurricane for the 2nd time. Max Winds: 75 mph
Track and intensity subject to errors some as big as several 100 miles.
