At some point I remember an old Met7 pic of a storm in the Med.Sea that might have been a cyclone. But to my knowledge there has been no documented cyclones there - maybe someone else knows. Anyway there may be a new candidate.

While I don't see anything special in the image you post, there has been record of tropical cyclone-like systems in the Mediterranean. See the web page of Dr. Jack Beven (a TPC forecaster) here for images of one in 1995:

System appears to be moving toward the ENE and should make landfall within the next 12 hours. I really don't think that's enough time for it acquire enough tropical characteristics to be referred to as a "tropical storm".
Still though, it appears to have a few "tropical" characteristics...those being small low pressure center with convection around it...
