Niceville - Destin - Panama City?

Niceville - Destin - Panama City?
Any word - or a link - about the damage to these cities b/c of Ivan I? Thanks!!!

Niceville- damage was mostly trees coming down. No reports of catastrophic damage. Worst I saw was the Arts Center at OWC lost part of its roof.
Destin- worst damage was in the low-lying Holiday Isle area where they have 4 feet of sand covering roads and first floors of dwellings. Some other roof damage in placec. Significant beach erosion is places, and they're still under a boil water advisory. But the Destin Commons Mall and most businesses not directly on the water are open for business. Overall, not too bad except for Holiday Isle and the park where Pomapno Joe's is is pretty much gone/eroded.
Panama City Beach- localized tornado damage, some beach erosion, but overall, in very good shape. Businesses are open ,schools are back in session, all that.
Amazing how much difference being 15 miles further east made in this storm. Fort Walton beach got slammed so much harder.

Reporting from Panama City
Pretty much echo what was previously posted. Not alot of structural damage here. Lots of signs and trees down. 80% of Gulf Power customers lost their power. East of us down on Cape San Blas there were 10 -15 homes that ended up in the GOM. Just for the record Panama City is 45-50 miles east of Fort Walton and yes that little bit of distance did make a huge difference. My neighbor is a retired AF Pilot and he clocked some gusts in the 70+mph range around 1:30am --4:00 in our neighborhood. We were very luck and my prayers go out to all of those who were less fortunate than I.

We have friends in Cinco Bayou. They said the areas along the Gulf and Sound were pretty hard hit. Inland, they had little structural damage. The power and phones, of course, were knocked out. But, school starts back tomorrow in Okaloosa County (Niceville, Crestview, Fort Walton, & Destin) so things must be getting better for them. (In Mobile, school is still out.
