Suggestion for posts

#1 Postby Mattie » Thu Sep 23, 2004 2:20 pm

For those of us who are monitoring the board periodically and not reading every post, would it be possible to include the storm that you are posting about in your subject line?

Some of us are watching Ivan with more intensity today than Jeanne, so it would sure help if we could skim the board and grab the info we need.

Just a thought.

Good idea - I know I, for one, am more interested in Jeanne so I tend to ignore the posts about Ivan...very good thought :)

Why not? Because he's a tropical storm?

So was Allison and Gaston.

Exactly Galveston Duck. I'm in Louisiana getting heavy rain right now and I'm still monitoring Jeanne.

C'mon Bradg - rain in some areas can be very devastating. We don't have to have a category 2+ storm to worry for low lying areas. Just go along with the program. Don't read Ivan posts (and you'll know which ones not to bother with) if we have them labeled. Kinda helps you too, doesn't it?

I want to read both. How else can we learn and figure out what storms will and will not do?

I'd like to read aobut both, however Ivan is a bit more of a focus for me right now because he's drifting in my direction. It's a little disconcerting to open a post that says something vague like

Models shifting! and have to read further down to figgure out what storm we're talking about.

Just remember to post what storm you're talking about- in the title would be extra special lovely... but in the post is okay too.

Ivan should be monitored... but he's no Allison or Gaston. The rainbands are probably the most disorganized I've seen with a tropical storm in a long time.

It would be simple to include the storm name in headers. I think this is a usefull and helpful idea.

As for this quote from NCstateWOLF...
NCstateWOLF wrote:It's more like...If it's not hitting Florida who cares...I've noticed that about this board...

...while there may be some who are only interested in their own sandbox, I think you should be embarassed for painting the rest of the good folks here with so broad of a brush. Most here are very helpful, and interested either in learning, teaching or just sharing info.

If you are going to be accusatory, how about doing it on another board. The folks here have a more mature agenda. Of course, we all welcome your participation as long as it is not about putting the rest down.
