This is absolutely ridiclous. There should at least be 2 flights a day into Jeanne. When Frances was east of the Bahamas I believe they were doing 6-hour fixes.

Dude, they are probably stretched thin right now....there is only so much funding for this stuff. There's not too much to be gained from flying into a nearly stationary storm anyway - we know it's a borderline cat 2/3 from satellite images and the last available pressure fix. I think 3 or 6-hourly fixes are justified 24-36 hours prior to landfall.

Edit - the plan of the day either has a mistake, or they won't fly in again until tomorrow afternoon.

C. FIX OF JEANNE AT 24/1800Z AND PROBABLE 6-HRLY FIXES
BEGINNING AT 25/0600Z.

When was the last flight? They aren't even doing 3 to 6 hour fixes. I would be happy with 12 hour fixes at this point.

They must be having resource issues...last flight was at 06Z and the next seems to be at 18Z tomorrow...that is a little out of line. Strange...

I'd said so especially when it's headed for land...

Is it just me or does there seem to be some complacency with Jeanne? Perhaps hurricane burnout?

With all the money the govenment has I think public safety is a #1 priority and don't think that has anything to do with it....At least one would hope
