NRL site shows Jean at 80kts pressure 968mb

At 5pm it may downgraded to a Cat 1 with 90mph winds.

sorry...its just fun being right.

and another point.....i expect the pressure to catch up with the sat signature/winds.....not vice versa....the unwinding continues


and im just speaking about the short term....long term i think some strengthening back up to min cat 2 before landfall.

Ok then we are agreed. Yes its weakened borderline cat2 / cat one from the ERC, but that it should go into a strenghening stage soon unfortunately.

Im surprised they didnt downgraded it for the 2 p.m. advisory since the NRL had it at 80kts and 968mb before the 2 o'clock advisory came out.

It doesn't match up. Even only 100 mph winds with a 968 mb pressure is weird.

That does not look like a cat1 in any way.

Regarding pressure, Frances was 65-mph tropical storm in the Gulf with a pressure of 975 mb. It's all about the inner core, and right now Jeanne's is loose. That could change.

Unless recon reports otherwise the intensity will be 80 knots at 5PM.

However...the forecast will still take Jeanne up to 95 knots before landfall.

Ed Rappaport just reported that the plane's radar found 100 mph surface winds....he seemed to say that the intensity will not be changed.
