The cone of confusion

#1 Postby bsidella » Fri Sep 24, 2004 6:48 pm

OK I don't post very often but I do check this board as I've found some of the post especially from the Pros to very insightful. I know Derek and now Mike W. have this going more West making landfall probably somewhere close to broward/palm beach line. The problem is every local station and the Hurricane Ctr has the storm way north of us so many people are just saying "forget about it" and not preparing for a Hurricane. Dade and Broward only had tropical storm force winds the last time so many believe things will be no worse this time.

How certain Dereck and Mike are you that Jeanne will continue west and significantly impact Dade and Broward. Just two minutes ago Roland Steadman stated that the storm is going to turn North and that his viewership at least in Dade/Broward county will only have fringe effects. He went on to say that the High has now weakened and that will allow the storm to head up past Palm Beach. So, has the high weakened and what are your thoughts...

I thought I heard him say just the opposite -- or to at least say "If this happens..." before everything you just said.

See my post about what Max Mayfield said. They're not discounting a nearly W motion all the way into the coast before a turn north.

Channel 7 right now is showing a scenario #1 -- a hit on Broward, or #2, a more northern hit, or #3, a turn before the coast. Nothing certain yet, I'm certain.
