Was just out on I-95 here in NC. Saw atleast 70 lineman trucks headed south. (3 convoys) They must have just been released after Jeanne didn't slam VA.
Our city crews are departing today. (some just got back)

Thanks so much to all the states sending in help!!
Remember that before Jeanne there was Ivan, and before Ivan was Frances, and before Frances was Charley... and from what I heard on the radio last night, there are still residents in the Charley landfall area who were still without power... to me that's almost impossible to comprehend.
Props to those who are helping us get back on our feet... and props to those who are lending a hand to their neighbor to keep their sanity. It's amazing (and heartwarming) to see how far teamwork can go!

My hat is off to the crews coming in. The hours they put in are incredible, and they are a dedicated bunch. I know this first hand. This is the first of the three storms we have had here that we got back power early in my area, the other times it was a very extended outage, and they came to the rescue. You can rest assured, it won't be forgotten, and should the need arise, Florida will return the favor!

Our city owes big time. We were ground zero for Floyds rath. Many people sent help. Never could have made it without them. Besides, crews, we just sent our first tractor trailer load of needed items. (Many more are needed.)
BTW, I was on I-95 for only 30 minutes, I am sure there is more help coming.

I was 13 days without power from Charley. I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw the trucks on my street.
After Frances hit, I saw a convoy of trucks heading North of where I live ( I didn't lose power from Frances), and still came up with a HUGE smile remembering how it was like to see them on street. I was thinking, someone else will have a BIG smile today.

God bless those guys who travel away from their families to come down and help us here in Florida! Please pray for their safety as they travel to and from their homes. They are truly heros in my eyes.
BTW - if you see them working in your neighborhoods, go by the local Subway, Larry's Subs, etc and pick up some food and drinks for them, or ask the place if you can purchase a free meal ticket and give it to the power guys so they can get something to eat when they're done. Really, it goes a long way and will be very much appreciated.
I heard horror stories of the people in Daytona chewing out the power guys after Charley came through because they didn't think they "were working fast enough."
Meanwhile, my sister went and loaded up on subs, chips and drinks at the local Sams Club. The guys were shocked when she pulled up and unloaded her van. Amazing, isn't it?!

I think it was linemen from NC who got our power back on after it was knocked out for 6 days by Frances...they will surely be welcomed back in my neighborhood again as we're currently on day 4 from Jeanne - I think there are still somewhere around 90,000 in the dark here in Pinellas.

Yes, it is very much appreciated. Lost power from Frances for darn near 3 day and am now on my 3rd day from Jeanne. Called the power company and am not due to be back online til Saturday. I guess Pinellas is flying in crews from as far away as Canada and these guys will use the local power company trucks on an alternating schedule with the locals. 7 hours on and 7 hours off. Man, that is a brutal schedule. Take care of the power guys-they are busting butt and in many cases these guys are locals who were also affected by the storm(s) but have to put job before family. .
