We survived Jeanne...

#1 Postby SouthFLTropics » Thu Sep 30, 2004 10:59 am

Our home took a direct hit from Jeanne, just like we did with Frances. We are still here, we still have a home. Suffered a little bit more damage, just an extension of what Frances did. We are on day 5 with no power. Running on generator at this time. Hoping to get it back soon but it isn't looking good. Thanks to everyone for their support and prayers. Things are rough down here but there are people alot worse off than I am at this time. My office was completely gutted by the storm surge. Jeanne was definitely worse than Frances without a doubt. I hate the devastation that they bring but am still amazed at their power. It was truly amazing to walk outside my house during the eye and have it dead calm and look up and see the moon and the stars shining down. The power of nature is unbelievable. I've seen enough of it this year though. We need a break now. Is it November 30th yet????

An expensive non-voluntary hobby eye-watching from within. Good to see you are up and running...

Keep us posted on recovery tidbits...

Here in Jupiter we got high winds but everything survived pretty good. I dont think there are any reports of building collapses here.

Glad everything is okay for you. Maybe this will be the last of it for this year.

has anyone got the memo posted somewhere July 30st?
here's a copy:

RE: 2004 Atlantic Hurricane Season
Effective July 31st, 2004

To all my fellow weather watchers,

I am mother nature and, as you have seen over the past two months, I have been on vacation so to speak. I had the worst time ever! The weather was sunny, free of precipitation(!!!) and the locals were so cocky, so ... carefree. "Where did I go?" I went on a Cruise--first stop left from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we went down to Jamaica, up to Port Charlotte, all the way over to the small island of Grenada, and then we returned to Jamaica before our final destination, Pensacola. In short, these places need rain now! Don't forget to be extra messy....

btw, hope this wasn't tasteless,..more or less just a parody....
