Ever wonder what it would have been like if the Atlantic went through the name lists like the Australian basins and the WPAC do?
Example: The last storm this year was Nicole, the first storm in 2005 would be Otto.....
Well, I decided to start with 1979 and do just that. It was quite interesting.
The retired storms would have been like this:
1979 Hurricane David = Hurricane David
1979 Hurricane Frederic = Hurricane Frederic
1980 Hurricane Allen = Hurricane Isabel
1983 Hurricane Alicia = Hurricane Otto
1985 Hurricane Elena = Hurricane Nathan
1985 Hurricane Gloria = Hurricane Philippe
1988 Hurricane Gilbert = Hurricane Sandy
1988 Hurricane Joan = Hurricane William
1989 Hurricane Hugo = Hurricane Iris
1990 Hurricane Diana = Hurricane Pablo
1990 Hurricane Klaus = Hurricane Bertha
1991 Hurricane Bob = Hurricane Gustav
1992 Hurricane Andrew = Hurricane Marco
1995 Hurricane Luis = Hurricane Charley
1995 Hurricane Marilyn = Hurricane Danielle
1995 Hurricane Opal = Hurricane Frances
1995 Hurricane Roxanne = Hurricane Hermine
1996 Hurricane Cesar = Hurricane Mitch
1996 Hurricane Fran = Hurricane Paula
1996 Hurricane Hortense = Hurricane Shary
1998 Hurricane Georges = (whatever replaced Philippe)
1998 Hurricane Mitch = Hurricane Alberto
1999 Hurricane Floyd = Hurricane Helene
1999 Hurricane Lenny = Hurricane Nadine
2000 Hurricane Keith = Hurricane Dean
2001 Tropical Storm Allison = Tropical Storm Hugo
2001 Hurricane Iris = (whatever replaced Pablo)
2001 Hurricane Michelle = Hurricane Van
2002 Hurricane Isidore = Hurricane Josephine
2002 Hurricane Lili = (whatever replaced Marco)
2003 Hurricane Fabian = Hurricane Teddy
2003 Hurricane Isabel = Hurricane Ana
2003 Hurricane Juan = Hurricane Bob
2004 Hurricane Charley = Hurricane Kate
2004 Hurricane Frances = Hurricane Nicholas
2004 Hurricane Ivan = Hurricane Rose
2004 Hurricane Jeanne = Hurricane Sam
