I'm thinking Emily will be a keeper in '05. A major. Just a hunch.

After a somewhat slow start, I see Dennis as the first hurricane, but then it picks up from there.

Big one? The name Gert just gives me the willies. So do Jose and Nate, but Gert the most.

I agree with most that 'Gert' doesn't sound right. It gives me a strange feeling.

Wow! I thought Bret would have been retired for hitting as a major hurricane.

Let's See.... I'll pick Cindy as a hurricane, but Dennis will be the first biggie.

even if you come in as a major as Bret did, he wasn't retired because he hit a ranch

I've always thought naming hurricanes with pansy names like cindy or fifi or dolly is really cruel to those people who are affected by them. Much better with evil sounding names like Ivan etc. Makes the retelling of the story a lot better in the future :) I also think on a more serious note, subconsiously people would take more notice of an evil sounding storm coming than hurricane cindy, no matter what there respective strengths and be more likely to evacuate.

Anyway, for next year, I predict Arlene as the first hurricane, Cindy as the first major, with Irene being the only 1 to make US landfall as a hurricane. I expect more storms to hit further south next year. Mexico is overdue some storms at the moment I feel.

I think Franklin and Irene will be the ones to watch, just because of the pattern of the bad F and I storms. Gert will probably be major but a fish just like last time.

Just like Andrew huh wzrgirl?

As for me, I'll go with Bret as first hurricane, with Franklin being the first major and the first cane to hit the US coast in '05. That will be sometime in early August.
