Here are storms celebrating big anniversaries this year:

225 years:
The Great Atlantic Hurricane of 1780 (Deadliest Atlantic hurricane in history. 22,000 dead in Caribbean)

105 years:
The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 (Deadliest hurricane in US history. At least 6,000 deaths in Galveston, 2,000 in Texas; Total of at least 8,000 deaths. Some sources list the number as high as 12,000.)

90 years:
Second Galveston Hurricane 1915 (275 dead)

70 years:
Labor Day Hurricane 1935 (Most intense hurricane to make landfall on the U.S.; pressure 892 mb; 408 dead; sustained winds of at least 160 mph)

55 years:
Hurricane Easy 1950 (26 dead)

Hurricane King 1950

50 years:
Hurricane Connie 1955 (41 dead)

Hurricane Diane 1955 (200 dead)

Hurricane Ione 1955 (7 dead)

Hurricane Janet 1955 (Category 5 landfall on the Yucatan Peninsula; rampaged across the Caribbean; lowest pressure 914 mb and MSW of 170 mph; 681 dead)

45 years:
Hurricane Donna 1960 (Only hurricane to make landfall at hurricane strength on Florida, Carolinas, Long Island, AND New England; 168 dead, including 50 in the US)

Cyclone Carol 1960 (42 dead)

Typhoon Mary 1960 (1,690 dead)

40 years:
Hurricane Betsy 1965 (Last major hurricane to make a direct hit on New Orleans; 80 dead)

35 years:
Hurricane Celia 1970 (16 dead)

Super Typhoon Georgia 1970 (300 dead)

Super Typhoon Joan 1970 (776 dead)

Super Typhoon Kate 1970 (915 dead)

Super Typhoon Patsy 1970 (1,138 dead)
