Wasn't there a TS in April in 2003. I heard every other year there is a system that develops in earlier than normal.

It was Subtropical Storm Ana, which actually did become a Tropical Storm.

It's first advisory was Thursday, April 21st, 2003 at 11:00 PM EDT, it's last was Sunday, April 24th, 2003.

June 11th. Every other year, we get an early start. 97 (Ana in late June), 99 (Arlene in early June), 2001 (Allison in early June), and 2003 (Ana in mid April). In fact, every odd year since 1989 had a June storm. I believe this will continue.

Neither did I. It's funny how things work like that. I imagine that we unlikely to see a repeat of last years' late start. I read somewhere that to have the first storm form at the very end of July is quite uncommon.

It's also interesting that Audrey (1957) is the only June hurricane to become a Category 4. While Bertha (1996) is one of the few July hurricanes to reach Category 3 or higher. In fact, I think she might be the only one in recent times.
