This is just a hunch, but I have a feeling that the 1926 hurricane followed a path similar to Andrew, Fran, Floyd, and Frances. That is, prior to making landfall, it formed off the coast of Africa (duh) and moved west-northwestward for a while. Then, as it approached 60 degrees west (near the Lesser Antilles) and turned northwest briefly. Then it moved westward for a long duration toward the Bahamas.
After the Bahamas, it obviously pulled a path from there on out similar to Andrew and less like the three F's.
I hope that made sense at all. If it didn't just let me know.
This post is made guessing what the re-analysis path will look like.
