This is about the no named storm to strike Pensacola in 1926...

sounds an awful lot like another "Ivan The Terrible" :eek:

:eek: There was also another very violent hurricane that struck Louisiana in 1926. In September, I think. It stuck near Houma. Thibodaux received winds in excess of 120 mph. And they are not even right on the coast. Thibodaux lost a warehouse and 10 stores. My neighbor is 93 years old and still remembers the hurricane of 1926. Her shotgun home was almost destroyed.

Here's the Houma storm. This storm will be upgraded to a cat. 3 when the Re-analysis info comes out for 1926. It's already listed as a cat. 3 in the NHC archives section.

This is just a hunch, but I have a feeling that the 1926 hurricane followed a path similar to Andrew, Fran, Floyd, and Frances. That is, prior to making landfall, it formed off the coast of Africa (duh) and moved west-northwestward for a while. Then, as it approached 60 degrees west (near the Lesser Antilles) and turned northwest briefly. Then it moved westward for a long duration toward the Bahamas.

After the Bahamas, it obviously pulled a path from there on out similar to Andrew and less like the three F's.

I hope that made sense at all. If it didn't just let me know.

This post is made guessing what the re-analysis path will look like.
