That's certainly a sight we'll soon be getting used to seeing again!! It IS amazing, actually, how fast time flies...

Yes, it's very far south so there will not be any activity. No spin in the atmosphere at those lattitudes. If you take a look at central Africa on a line East of the ITCZ, there's some pretty good convection but again it's very far south. The "cape verde" season doesn't really begin until late July. So although hurricane season starts in 2 months don't look for anything to develop along the ITCZ until later in the season. June features home-grown storms from the Gulf and Caribbean that can develop along the trail end of cold fronts that manage to push their way into the tropics.
