Home Insurance and Flood Insurance reminder

#1 Postby MSRobi911 » Wed Jun 08, 2005 4:54 pm

Just an FYI for newbies to the Gulf Coast......Insurance companies will not issue a home owners policy of any type when a storm is in the Gulf. Don't know if this qualifies now, but if you don't have your insurance up to-date, you need to call your agent and make sure before it actually gets into the gulf. Don't get caught with your pants down!

Yep thats right, I was talking to my sister yesterday and I told her she'd better get that insurance now. Once we have a storm in the GOM, immediate threat or not they will not write a new policy. Thanks for that post, folks really need to be aware of that.

I forgot to add that if you plan on closing on a house that you are buying you have to have insurance so you need to either change your close date or get your insurance.
