Interesting quickscat

#1 Postby Matt-hurricanewatcher » Fri Jul 01, 2005 5:33 am

It shows a weak surface low at around 13 north/77 west. It is very weak. In the convection is not very oreganized. But it looks interesting. The quickscat missed the western side.

14.98 N 74.99 W (14°58'40" N 74°59'34" W)

Wind Direction (WDIR): ESE ( 110 deg true )
Wind Speed (WSPD): 17.5 kts
Wind Gust (GST): 21.4 kts
Wave Height (WVHT): 7.2 ft
Dominant Wave Period (DPD): 8 sec
Average Period (APD): 5.5 sec
Atmospheric Pressure (PRES): 29.85 in
Pressure Tendency (PTDY): -0.04 in ( Falling )
Air Temperature (ATMP): 81.7 °F
Water Temperature (WTMP): 83.7 °F
Combined plot of Wind Speed, Gust, and Air Pressure

This means that the winds are coming from south to north off the eastern side of this...Meaning the quickscats are right...17.5 knots one minute winds with 21.4 knot gust...

A upper leve high has formed over this. The enviroment is now favable. 5 to 10 knot shear.
