Will Dennis BOMB?!

#1 Postby AnthonyC » Tue Jul 05, 2005 11:37 pm

Looking at satellite pics, the storm is becoming more organized by the second...a nice convective burst is probably lowering the pressure at rapid speed. But will Dennis bomb? It's not a very compact storm, but it has a perfect environment...no shear, high amplitude surface high right over its center and very little stear current. Could this explode to a category 5?

Yes, it could. If any storm in July had a chance of doing it, this is it. The chances, very very very unlikely.

I say no to cat 5, but a "bombing" to cat 3 and maybe even low cat 4 is not out of the realm of possibility.

I agree to intensifying to Cat 3-4.

I wouldn't count it out. Water as hot as a bath-tub, and is getting a classic hurricane shape. Do I think it will happen, Maybe. Still too early in the ball game to say if it will become a cat. 5 or not.

I say no also. Cat 4's are rare enough. There's still a long road to go for Dennis to make a 4.
