It is going to have to persist. Like Watkins mentioned, there seems to be a little cold pool aloft which helped to spark the convection this afternoon over land. It will be something to watch!

It needs to persist and move out into the Bay of Campeche. Upper winds looks favorable for development. But the question is will a circulation center develop over this blob over warm water. We'll find out in a day or two.
