Pensacola Bay Bridge

#1 Postby CYCLONE MIKE » Thu Jul 07, 2005 9:12 pm

I am sorry to start a new topic on this, but I can't find the old topic on it. I am leaving tomorrow morning for Florida and have to cross the I-10 bridge. My parents just got back tonight from Tampa and said going and coming across took about 2 hrs each way. I do not want to sit in that, and I am sure tomorrow will be worse. Any way my point is I know there was a topic on how to detour all of this. Could anyone from the panhandle area help me out on this. Thanks.

When you get into Florida on I-10, take the first exit available in Florida. That is Alt 90. You will get off on the right side. Take a left and you are on Alt 90, this will take you through Pace Florida, into Milton, keep going and watch for I-10 signs and you can bypass the bridge over the bay.

Depends on what time of day you hit the bridge. Going EAST Bound it is only one lane on the bridge and only about 35-45 mph due to 1 slow drivers and 2 your driving on a temp steel grid type bridge.

Most people evacuating from the area go North so would be going the other way.

More or less its your best bet just to stay on I-10. And make sure youve got gas. Its getting pretty slim here in Pcola and Gulf Breeze already and the damn storm is still 3 days away......

It'll probably be busier than usual but maybe get off on HWY 90 when you hit Pensacola and go through Pace and Milton to HWY 87 back to I10. Shouldn't take more than an hour...prayerfully....
