You know you are addicted to weather info when...

#1 Postby scorpdream » Mon Jul 11, 2005 3:59 pm

Your entire family thinks you have lost it when going into withdrawls in a campground in northwest ms with one channel (not the weather channel of course) while running from any given hurricane. - this time Dennis. When people at my work want to know what is going on they just call me instead of taking the time to look it up on the internet! I was about to die with not sat pictures, no websites, no tv, no hurricanetrack.com, no storm2K, ...it was rough!

It was so bad at one point that I had to get in my car and drive miles to the nearest Walmart that had it on their televisions.....is that addicted or what?

Hi all I am new to this forum, but I have always LOVED weather, earth sciences, etc. I am so addicted to tropical weather info. and seeing how things progress, what affects what, etc. I don't think this site will help my addiction at all, but who cares! :D

I look forward to reading all of the posts! Thanks.

You are addicted to weather when you PAY for satellite radio because it has a weather channel! My family is equallyl addicted everyone who marries into our family thinks we are total weather geeks and thank God we mostly live where weather is exciting most of the time. We love it and get so excited about it you could call it weather stuff.

Just FYI for any campers: Fiesta Key (KOA in the Keys) has a TV in the bathrooms tuned to the Weather Channel at all times ;)

Or... if you check the same information about 5 times a day just to make sure you are correct, check every slight bit of chance of rainfall even if the temperature is in the 30'C range and you know there is no chance..

Save every forecast map from every day, even if it's sunny.

Stand up on the roof whenever there are clouds trying to get pics.

Think about it when you are falling asleep, and then still dream about it.

Give the local weather site half their daily hits.

Read up on every weather event that happened atleast 4 times.

Look at the sky continuously even if it means walking into things.

(Yep I'm one)

If the clouds are dark and thunder is in the distance and you look up to admire the sky and take half your knee off on the bumper of the car. OUCH! The ice helped a little.

Scorpdream it sure does. You just have to decide on XM or Sirius for the rest of the stuff because both of them have TWC. As a matter of fact Sirius even divides it up by areas so there are actually 3 TWC channels. It makes the non-weather buffs nuts but I just gotta know what is happening out there, you just can't control Mother Nature!

When your weather is boring as hell (like Kentucky) but you still like to keep track of all the hurricanes in the Gulf, and tornadoes in the Midwest and have just as much fun doing it as someone that lives there would.

If you call for reservations to a hotel on the beach and ask for a ocean view on the lowest level while the hotel is in Hurricane Warning.
