Can someone explain what this 'high' might do to Emily?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Can someone explain what this 'high' might do to Emily?

#1 Postby dolphinslady » Tue Jul 12, 2005 6:49 am

From Accuweather:

Computer models maintain a strengthening tropical cyclone through the next 7 days which consensus places the system over or just west of Haiti by Saturday morning, then near southeastern Cuba by Saturday night. The Atlantic high appears to be well established in the longer range. So, it remains to be seen just what this system will do once it starts to encounter the Atlantic ridge.

So would this 'high' keep it farther south? Where is the ridge located? (Sorry for the ignorance, weather challenged here...)

Thanks!
