Franklin naked swirl starting to move WSW now?

#1 Postby LarryWx » Sun Jul 24, 2005 5:18 pm

Looking at visible sat. loops, it looks to me like the nearly naked swirl of Franklin has stalled and in fact may be starting to slowly turn WSW. Any comments?

It's pretty much getting a good ole fashion convective haircut (sheared to pieces.) The low level center is meandering at the moment...maybe drifting a little to the SW. As was said the advisory board, unless it can get some convection over the center fairly soon, Franklin will not be with us much longer.

I think the return flow around the ridge entering after the trough has it and it is turning around...

Around as in "spinning" or around as in "changing direction"?

I think ALhurricane is right. If Franklin doesnt get some convection over the center soon, it may meet its demise.

What will truly be interesting is to see what motion the NHC gives Franklin at 8pm CDT. I know they often give an average of 6 hour movement (qualified by sometimes noting "recent movement), but will they stay with 50/60/70* @ 8/9mph or will they show the southerly motion.

I'm seeing a jog to the south now

Look at the floater

It does appear EXTREMELY disorginzed though so I dont think it will be a major threat if it winds up hitting somewhere

Its just getting sheared. If it got into a more favorable environment it could still strengthen steadily.

exactly. Could they be starting to hint towards us that they are now feeling that Franklin will not be pulled away by that trough afterall?
