Generators are now legal in Royal Palm Beach,FL, BUT.......

#1 Postby sprink52 » Wed Jul 27, 2005 3:42 pm

They can only be operated :

1. When the Village of Royal Palm Beach delares an "emergency"

and...(drum roll)

2. Operation is limited to between the hours of 10AM and 5PM!!!!!!!

This has got to be the most stupid thing I have seen in many, many years. :grr:  :grrr:  :wall:

 Why would they make generators illegal in a hurricane-prone area? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

because they are noisy!

those ppl in that area make all kinds of laws, they have a law on how many inches your grass can be and a force of citizen patrols with rulers who enforce it.

They also have done all they can to restrict people from going on the beach/surfing/scuba diving in front of their beach side homes.

Nothing but snobs these people are and I would love to see the Big One rip through that area.

They're noisy only if they're outside and/or don't have a muffler.

I have to say that this is a good place to live but the people that make some of these rules have no idea about the ramifications of their idiocy. I think the operative word here is "emergency". What I can't figure out is how does the emergency know what time of day it is? What the hell difference does it make? Doesn't it get dark at night and wouldn't the prudent person think that perhaps some one might wish to be able to see in the dark? I don't know ....this one is too stupid for me.

Well if we are affected by more storms, I suppose those who made that law will want to move away.

Ive heard a lot of people talk about moving if we have another 'bad' season in Florida so I say bring on the storms!

I assume this is a "town", with its own town council, its own law enforcement/fire deparment/EMT/Library, etc.

I know there are some NEIGHBORHOODS that have STUPID, I mean STUPID covenants around the country, including here in my city, about how you need to keep care of your yard (I mean, cut, well-groomed), NO satellite dishes (that is a FCC violation, BTW), etc. Those are STUPID!

They can afford solar panels which run silently.

By the way, BTK was a code enforcer... :D

If they are impacted, hopefully that will be the last place the utility crews reinstall power at. When the SOB's are sweltering when the sun goes down, you'll here the spoiled snotty simpletons crying like babies. Idiots.

That definately sounds pretty dumb. Nighttime is when you need it the most, not only to see, but to power a window unit AC so you can at least get a good nights sleep! That is south Florida for goodness sakes! Pretty hot in the summertime.

Grinning...I'm so glad I live here...(what's a *building code*?
Must be some secret handshake thing to get the backhoe guy to your property? Two cases of Medalla, bud, if you'll get here before summer is over!)

The law should simply be broken because it endangers the public safety.
