Irene, the weakest "I" storm on record ... so far!
I have been trying to find a storm with starting with "I" that has been as weak as Irene. As we all know, most "I" named storm are known to be powerful like Ivan (80/98/04), Iris (01), Isabel (04), and many more. But Irene this year has struggle as much as a tropical cyclone can withstand, becoming a tropical storm at one point in its life. The weakest "I" storm before Irene was TS Isaac in 1988 with 45 mph. Of course, Irene still is not dead and the future may be more benevolent for this little storm.
