OTHER THEN CAMILLE! ( I couldn't fit that on the subject line)

If I included Camille it would be too easy I wanted it to be a contest

Remember only judged by damage done on the gulf coast and not what they did before hand

I went with Ivan becuase of the devestation it caused not just in it's eyewalls but along a strech of coast to apalachacola to Biloxi Mississipi that receved at least moderate damage plus the fact it hit the gulf coast twice

1950 or 1970? make up your mind ,both are listed on your post...........

I would vote Camille if this was cleared up

I assume you are only including the northern Gulf Coast. Otherwise you would have Donna (1960) and Charle (2004).

I would have to vote for Ivan based on the widespread destruction. I am sure other more intense storms produced damage just as impressive but over a smaller area.

Charley and Donna do not count as the WC of Florida is considered to be East Coast for some odd reason

I voted for Audrey due to the loss of life, but it's a tossup between Ivan and Audrey. Ivan's fresher in everyone's mind and should win handily. Betsy was no walk in the park either, but it was so long ago it's more or less just memories out there. FWIW, Allison due to the incredible flooding (including toxic mold problems), is probably as bad as anything else.

I voted for Audrey, but Ivan would be a close second.

They were all pretty fierce... but I have to go with Ivan. It will probably be remembered as the worst Gulf Hurricane since Camille.

All I can say is that to not see Frederick in the top 3 is a joke. I've been here in Mobile for 45 years, and I know there have been many bad gulf storms, but since 1950 Frederick is by far one of the worst! Mobile and surrounding areas looked like we had been hit by a bomb.

BamaMan-
I agree that Frederic is way up on the list. However, after seeing the damage Ivan caused from Gulf Shores to Perdido Key to Pensacola, I had to go with Ivan. I remember Frederic's winds and damage-- both of which were terrible-- but Ivan's seemed worse to me.

It all depends, but I voted for Ivan due to recent events

Intensity: Camille 1969 (Yeah I know you said not including...but oh well..lol)

Loss of Life: Audrey 1957 (Definitely)

Destruction: Ivan 2004 (3rd Most Costly Hurricane to ever strike US)
