Landfall at . . .

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Landfall at . . .

Irene has three possibilities from my point of view. One, a NC/Outer Banks hit. I see that as the best chance assuming intensification to a cat1+, which should be what happens. Two, she could hit in the Savanah area, plus or minus about 70 miles. This would happen if she were to only intensify to a strong TS. And three, if she barely intensifies or this ridge builds in like crazy, then we could see landfall around Melbourne, plus or minus 100 miles. Which would be your choice?

Yes, and MWatkins has a thread going that I just saw, and it supports the Outer Banks thought.

Depends on where center is

#7 Postby Tommedic » Wed Aug 10, 2005 3:51 pm

If center is further SW as noted in discussion, then I believe between Charleston and Morehead City, NC. This involves a turn to NW or NNW just prior to landfall.

Could a mod add a "Charleston to Wilmington" option, please?

I voted other because I"m thinking more of a SC hit...Outer Banks is NC in my book, but then I'm a NC girl ;)

First, 50%+40%+10%=100%. Second, I feel that those three areas are the most likely for landfall. I now see that many tend to have other feelings, but that's what they are entitled too.

You're missing "New England" and "Fish" options.

Although I say North Carolina as well.

You initialized the center too far south. It is up in the NW edge of the convection according to NHC.

Wait until the High shows up or not...
