Eastern Atlantic Tropical Summary - EATS OUT on August 23, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/eats20050823.jpg">

The lil' devils are making their presence known well in the Eastern Atlantic.

The wave once known as invest 97L, is showing signs of trying to
develop, however, there's a lot of dry air in its path. Any development of

this system will be slow.

A new tropical wave is emerging off of the African coast, and will move
west over the next few days.

I do not expect tropical cyclone development in this area in the next
24-48 hours.

It's a long way off ... but I think the second wave has a good shot at making it across and perhaps developing as it approaches the islands.

97L looks almost certain to recurve at sea, IMHO.

I think you're right about 97L.

I can't say for the new wave, I've lost hope for the CV season.

It's still early to say that David.September is the most active month for those CV systems to form and historicly that is the case.Here Puerto Rico has been visited by those CV systems much more in September than in august.

Luis - I know. Climatology tells us that September should be rather
active in that part of the Atlantic. However, watching wave after wave
get mauled by dry air, I wonder just how much the SAL is really affecting
the genesis of these systems. The 2005 post-mortem will be good reading!
