TWC playing Storm Stories???!!! What the heck?!

#1 Postby TreasureIslandFLGal » Wed Aug 24, 2005 7:14 pm

I remember a discussion not too long ago about the fact that TWC stupidly plays that rotten "weather show" rather than reporting on very important weather during storms.
Supposedly, somebody who worked there said "no they don't, they keep the weather news on in areas that could be impacted and only play storm stories in the other regions." Well, that is bull. Sure enough, they cut off all the weather reporting and put that stupid show on here in Florida again.
GRRRRRRR how idiotic!
This could rapidly intensify or change speed and change the whole ball game so quickly, and they obviously don't care.
-AND THE IRONY OF ALL THIS IS THAT THEY ARE DOING A STORM STORY ON IVAN!!!

Why can't they stick to what made them so popular to begin with back in the eighties? -Weather reporting, discussion and forecasting.

It's not making landfall tonight in Florida or probably even in the next 24 hours.

"Bringing weather to life"

Because, you know, weather was too droll and boring to be interesting for the past 20 years of TWC's existence.

We were in a situation a few years ago with the weather channel doing their "storm stories". We were relying on Satellite TV in a motorhome for impending stormy weather. We could not get any updates and warnings. The storm hit with fury and several tornadoes were in our immediate area. They really need to use some common sense with their programming when there is severe weather........that could substantially effect or destroy lives.

Maybe they figure the rest of the population - outside of extreme SE FL - isn't nearly as interested in this development as they (and we  ) are. Sorta like when tornados hit Kansas, when floods hit Utah, or when blizzards hit New York - I really can't relate, and therefore, would probably rather watch Storm Stories. Guess that's kind of a selfish viewpoint, huh??!!

They always stand in front of eastern NC when they show the radar. I hate that. "Move, Dave, move!"

The problem is TWC is The WEATHER Channel. Just like MSNBC, Fox News, or CNN would cut-in to a non-news program for Breaking News, TWC should do the same for weather events.
