SE LA. Evacuations!!!!

#1 Postby gk1 » Sat Aug 27, 2005 3:34 am

Well, with a 1pm Monday strike time, we have about 57 hours to get this done. Even if the evacuation orders are given, the word may not get out until 10am or so. This will give people about 50 hours. That is provided that she does not increase her forward speed. Officials say it takes 72 hours to complete it properly!!

Phase 1 Evacs don't start until 50 hrs. out. As I said in another thread about this, I personally believe noone is going to really leave until Phase 3 thus once again causing gridlock on the contraflow.

The hurricane watches go up at 36 hours...We have a hard enough time pointing out landfall 24 hours out as shown by this storm already the first time. The death zone is no more then maybe 30 miles on the western side(which will effect new orleans) If it is off then New orleans is spared. If not then I can't say. Which is by miles.

We should wait for tonights 00z models tonight to make sure...In which will be still very far out in the forecast world.
