in the Atlantic at the same time? Fox forecaster Janice said she needs to check the history books - ok - you weather guru's - have there been?

I beleive there may have been in 95, I'm going to check it out.

I think in 1995 at one time there were four hurricanes at the same time.

Humberto, Iris and Luis were at the same time in 95.

How about (gag at three of these names) Georges, Ivan, Jeanne, and Karl in the Atlantic in 1998? ALL were hurricanes at the same time.

Karl's the only one left yet to be a big one out of that foursome. :eek:

Three hurricanes at the same time isn't too rare. The record is four.

On August 19, 1893...
Hurricanes 03L, 04L, 05L, and 06L co-existed.

On September 25 and 26, 1998
Hurricanes Georges (07L), Ivan (09L), Jeanne (10L), and Karl (11L) co-existed.
