Locked for Tropical Development?

SAL or dry air covers all the tropical region from Africa and passed the Meridian 40 W. Thereafter, Cape Verde Season is locked to development at least for now.

it's looking like the CV season is over. After this weekend, the chances of a CV storm dies off rapidly with each passing day.

There is nothing in Africa also. It looks like a desert all the way across....
Notice the troughs in the upper left part of the picture digging down like fall/winter:

Here comes fall ladies and gentlemen:

I just posted something about this as well before I saw your thread. Nothing going to be happening this season as far as CV storms are concerned. We've seen extremely impressive waves coming off the coast and they all fizzle out. If THOSE waves didn't develop when conditions were at least DECENT, there's no way anything else will get going based on the way it's setup now.

This is good news though. I think we've all had enough. :D

We didn't have much of a CV season this year anyway. Our most devastating storms developed in-close (i.e., Dennis, Katrina)

It's extremely interesting to note that we haven't had any help from the Eastern Atlantic in truly CV systems this year, and also, the Caribbean Sea has been FULLY closed for August and the first part of September. Even without their help, this season has been unprecedented in the number of named storms so far.

WEIRD SEASON!

I'm happier than a pig in a poke!

DISCLAIMER: I've never been within 3 feet of a real live pig, nor do I even know what a "poke" is! But that doesn't diminish the fact that I am happier than one.

Goodbye CV! It was nice NOT knowing ya this year.

When I was in Cuba my family used to raise pigs for food and money. I have seen many times pigs in labor, all animals are cute when they are little!

Well, ~Floydbuster mentioned that he talked with Matt Carrier and that Matt said that we might have a later Cape Verde season that may last into middle or late October.

In 2000 the last Cape Verde system was Joyce and it became a named system the 25 of September at 11 PM. In 1998 Jeanne became a named system Sep. 21 at 5 PM. So there can be years in which the CV Season has lasted almost until October, but as usual, as Fall approaches the chances of seen a CV storm decreases.

I don't consider Peter a CV system since when we talk about the CV Season is usually related to tropical cyclones developing from tropical waves, and Peter, like Nicole in 1998, were barometric systems not tropical in nature.

Now the SAL and dry air stretches to the Meridian 50, but the African coast begins to feel moist air.

well I guess if you have a dry intrusion from the N then you will get a moist intrustion from the S.
