Western Caribbean/Gulf of Honduras Thread
Does anyone else see the "eddy" east of Belize and north of Honduras, moving NNW?...There is not too much convection associated with it, but it does appear to be a swirl in the lower or mid-levels of the atmosphere...I haven't checked upper level conditions, so I don't have any idea if this area is conducive for development right now.

What? If you're wanting to discuss about a hurricane on the East Coast, then you're in the wrong thread. I'd direct you to go back to the multiple Ophelia threads...You cannot make people who are totally "out of the woods" regarding a hurricane (i.e. the Gulf Coast) talk about Ophelia. We're going to talk about something that might threaten us. Sorry...but that's just the way it is. By the way, I don't recall seeing any posts from you when Hurricane Katrina was threatening my area.

Development is possible if this area moves over water for a few
days. I have been noticing this area too.
But the key is it must move and stay over water. If a trough or something
to the north causes this or if nothing pushes it onto land then we
may see development. Convection appears to be persistent
especially near to the coast. Climatology favors this area as well
during the Sept-Oct Carribean season period of storms.

rockyman i've been following that cluster of thunderstorms and i'm curios of how that's gonna play out once in the GOM. Accuweather had been talking about low pressure in the BOC and combined with these thunderstorms who knows. I think we will get our suspicions anwered tomorrow, and n.c. sunshine your comment was out of place there's a thread with over 900 posts on Ophelia.

Actually, in my first couple of days, weeks, and months, in fact, years, on this board, it never once occurred to me to go into a thread that doesn't interest me in the least and tell those people, who are not hurting me, to stop talking about what were talking about. I don't think it has anything to do with being insensitive...it would be like me crashing a party to which I was not invited and telling the people there to shut up.
