this is much worse than people every thought
4 feet of water in Bridegton
i live at emerald isle and jsut cam eback from ocen
never seen it this high
the wind is very high and the rain is just pouring buckets
has not let up verymuch in the past 5 years
lots of trees down in pine knoll shores
keep us in your prayers
they are saying 5 or 6 more hours of this

it's always worse than people think, that's why they should really prepare for hurricanes, Cat 1's are is simply a thunderstorm to people. Many people go outside and want to play with the hurricane, which is a very bad thing to do.

2nd time stronger then anticipated. first katrina at cat one and now ophellia that is also cat 1

Case in point - BIG TIME. First Katrina, the storm that was underestimated at it's Category One Florida landfall and whose weakening to a Category Four with 140MPH winds at it's Louisiana landfall was overestimated and overemphasized. Now Ophelia, which is proving the point all over again.

I have been though a few cat 1 and cat 2 storms. This is much more like a cat 2 because of the slow movement. We have cat 1 winds that are just beating on area's for hours and hours and hours and those waves are pounding the coast. Many things can hold up to normal cat 1 for several hours but when it goes on and on they weaken and finally give out.

A little good new... our electric company trucks and personal who had been sent down south did make it back here a few days ago. They are all set and just waiting till its gone to get workin on getting us back up and running when O finally creeps out of here.

hey Bobby Deskins just recorded a wind gust in morehead city at 96.4 with his anenometer.Really blowing down there and starting to hear reports of a lot of sound flooding.Friend from washington called and said the water was getting high quickly there!
