The good thing about Ivan the Terrible, was that of the 4 hurricanes to strike Florida last year it's the only one that didn't go through, wholly or in part, Orlando. No power outages like Charley or Jeanne, or power flickering like Frances, no food spoiled, no need to unplug the PC.
Another thing that comes to mind is at this time last year we were only at the I named storm, this year we're watching Ophelia. I wonder if we'll see Wilma this year, and what happens if another named storm comes after her?

It sure was terrible! When we ventured out the next morning, it looked like a war zone.. and we live pretty far inland (Northpoint subdivision near Scenic Hiway). We actually expected the damage to be worse because the wind roared all night and we kept hearing things hitting the house . Part of the garage caved in. we lost a privacy fence, swimming pool,a tree fell on the house, the wind pushed one of the walls in just enough to make some leaks and break a picture. Oh yeah, we also lost the roof. The trees that were down, were all twisted till they ripped apart. The damage to the twisted trees was so widespread, that everyone said that it had to be more than 1 tornado that did that. The Red Cross truck had a hard time giving out water and MRE's. Tree's were all in the roads. I never want to go through another Ivan like hurricane.ivanhater wrote:man, that was the worst night of my life, i will never forget the sound of the wind, and walking outside for the first time seeing the woods stripped and could see all the way through, not a night i ever want to go through again
