JB says strongest Hurricane ever for Texas
As far as pressure is concerned. Also no change to his theory of hitting upper Texas coast. Well see.

I saw him on Fox News. He painted a pretty grim picture. But he did say Middle-Upper Texas coast, not just Upper. He said Galveston to Matagorda, at least that's the thinking today. Shep kept asking about New Orleans and he basically said maybe a few thunderstorms out of it for the NOLA, Miss. area, but this was Texas' storm. I don't remember the wording but something to the effect that SW La. wasn't out of the woods either, although that's not how he said it. He said it would be a significant impact for the middle and Upper Texas coast, and maybe SW La., obviously depending on actual landfall location.

My prediction was a Cat. 3, but I think she'll reach Cat. 5 before she makes landfall. At least Louisiana will be spared.
Good luck to all those who live on the TX Coastline.

Damn, I'd rather chew broken glass than agree with JB. But I guess I have to this time. I do believe Rita is going to hit cat 5 in the Gulf. Of course, I don't think she'll make landfall as a cat 5. It just seems that interaction with land tends to take that cat 5 punch out of a 'cane before those winds around the center make landfall. So it is very rare that a storm will actually make landfall as a cat 5. Smaller hurricanes and hurricanes moving at a faster clip stand a chance, but large, slower moving hurricanes will likely lose some punch before the center makes landfall. And I do believe that Rita will be an extremely large hurricane before it makes landfall. So I think she'll land as a cat 4, rather than a 5.
