I hope all these people can get out before it is too late. at 11pm tonight traffic is at a standstill on most major highways out of Houston.

I would hope they are packed. There's time still. Stay safe, get out too! This is not one to stick around for, obviously.

Me and my father are going to ride it out along with our 3 big pitbulls. My mother and younger brother are headed to Louisana. We Already have our plywood and supplies to ride the Storm out. If anything, we will be prepared and realize if push comes to shove we are on our own.

Just spoke to a girlfriend who is in Huffman, TX. she is riding it out with her 5 dogs, 3 birds, horse and 3 kids. She should be OK though because she is on the NE side of Houston. I told her she might be without power for awhile. She has stocked up but has no generator. Should I tell her to leave? Debbie

Yep, I live on the east side of Austin and just go back from Wal-Mart - looked like rush hour traffic going into Austin still at almost 11:00 pm.

I was at WalMart and HEB earlier and it was worse than if Austin was fixin to have a blizzard.
I have friends leaving Galveston tonight for Baton Rouge .... I sure hope they know alternate routes...

Yes, but the evac plan wasn't followed, so everyone is on the road now. This has overloaded all the major freeways. It started before noon. Driving from Texas City to up here on the South Loop (610), I was taking alot of back roads, but the few times I did see the freeway, many many cars were on the side, overheated, or no gas.....I think this is going to be a real problem. I am glad everyone seems to be leaving though.

If any one from Houston knows, I plan to probably leave the 610 are and I want to go west, will I still be allowed to do that?
thanks
cheers

3pm this afternoon, I10 west was open and moving at a slow clip. Prepare for slow traffic- it took us 6 hours to get to San Antonio. (usually 3!)

My best friend came in tonight from Galveston. He left at 2:00 and got here around 10:30.
He got separated from his wife - he managed to take the Hardy and beat her.
She is STILL stuck in traffic just north of 1960 - that extrapoolates to about a 4AM arrival. She also burned through over 1/2 a tank.
People are running out of gas, you can't exit or get back on, no hotels, and people are exhausted. This is horrible.
Just in: he just went to go get gas, came back, nada, nothing.
What a disaster in the making. He said many, many people were planning to leave tomorrow or Friday.
