Another Rita evacuee death

#1 Postby Eye10TX » Fri Sep 23, 2005 9:39 am

Our local news in Houston just reported that another evacuee has died in Waller County while stranded without gas or shelter.

The few details were that it was a woman who was with her family in a caravan. They had stopped for the night and stayed at a car wash facility, camping out on the cement with sleeping bags and so forth.

The woman woke up this morning, walked across the wet, slippery concrete, slipped, fell, hit her head and died at the hospital where she was taken by ambulance.

The extra part of the story was that none of the family could go to the hospital with the ambulance, because there was no gas left in any of their cars.

All the reporter knew was that the deceased and family are from a coastal TX community. They evidently were trying to leave on Hwy 290, which is where many of the Waller Co. reports are coming from.

its now obvious that more people died from evacuating houston than if everyone had stayed.

fact of life i guess.

Excuse me? How is the "obvious?" Have you access to some time machine?

Sorry but this death has little to do with the hurricane. If you slipped on the ground and died, I mean come on now...
