2005 TIES 1995 WITH 19 NAMED STORMS

The 2005 Atlantic Hurricane Season is now up to the letter T (Tammy). This means that, so far, the 2005 Atlantic Hurricane Season now has (including Tammy) 19 named storms. This ties the second most active hurricane season recorded - 1995, which also had 19 named systems.

Here is a site in which you can compare the 2005 and 1995 seasons in the Atlantic Basin and for confirmations...

As a side note, there are just 2 more names on the list to be used this year - Vince and Wilma - before the Greek alphabet.

Just thought I'd break the news...

EDIT - Sorry if it is old news... I was just trying to post it so others would know or, even if others knew, could still check things out.

*EXTRA INFORMATION*

Here is some more information tidbits comparing the 1995 and 2005 (so far) seasons in the Atlantic Basin...

2005 (SO FAR)...
19 named storms
10 hurricanes
5 major hurricanes
9 tropical storms
2 depressions (TD 10 and TD 19)

1995...
19 named storms
11 hurricanes
5 major hurricanes
8 tropical storms
2 depressions (TD 6 and TD 14)

Here is another section of the site I mentioned above that allows you to check out how the 2005 Atlantic Hurricane Season is shaping up so far, also for confirmations...

Interesting that 1995 and 2005 are both 10 years apart and evenly spaced...

Very cool site, but why do they Tropical Depression Otis in the Wpac list of storms?, I thought that was an Epac storm.

Yep... I noticed that as well! It is just an error... hopefully, it will soon be fixed.

You are right... Otis was/is an eastern Pacific storm.
