Will the season end on Dec. 1?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Will the season end on Dec. 1?

#1 Postby Houstonia » Sat Oct 08, 2005 7:57 pm

No real reason for a message body, I suspect.

Okay, this has been a crazy season, and it's October and we are at T with a probably V coming up. Everyone is waiting for December 1 to come along to end this wretched season.

But what's that to stop storms from forming? Why December 1? We've had storms inch over into December before.

What do y'all think - will there be any out-of-season storms? Would they still be called tropical storms, or would they be called something else?

This season is over in a couple of weeks if not sooner. It will be long over by Dec. 1st.

Nature has done what she has needed to remove excess heat from the tropics.

Given a general proclivity towards higher SSTs, I would say the
season may end around December 15th.
But this is JMO. We will see.

The exception to this--- an early ending would take place if
a monster cane or several storms take the heat out of the
remaining Altantic hot spots between now and November 31.

However there is a climatological tropical cyclone formation declivity starting in mid-October.

I should add- Given 2005's proclivity....

2005 has shattered climatology...whether or not it continues to
do so remains to be seen...Hopefully we can get some very strong
fronts to cool SSTs down...

tropical cyclone formation would occur all year in the Caribbean if it were not for the increased shear that plagues the Caribbean during the winter months.

Good point  We'll have to see when that shear really gets
going down in the Carribean...

The season will "officially" end on Dec 1st, but whether the season will actually end on Dec. 1st is a whole other matter. I think the answer lies in whether anything can get started in the still HOT Carribean over the next 2 months.

Houstonia, as to your question about what any future storms would be called. Let me go on record here as saying that I personally have called these storms many names, most of which are not fit to be repeated here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hehe:

Remember the last time everybody here said the season was over? Just a thought.

So, following hurricanefreak's line of thought, Vince will be a Cat 3 into NYC on the 19th-20th of October.

I am suprised at how posting on all threads thats its over, done like you have some power and you know for sure. You were already proven wrong when you said Vince probably wont form.

I think the season is winding down but things could still pop and reek havoc on places very quickly. Lets not let our guard down.

It only took a few short hours for you to be proven wrong.

These posts are sickening.

When the season will actually end remains to be seen. Hopefully it'll be on time, but don't quote me on that.
