Hummm...!

#1 Postby The_Cycloman_PR » Sun Jun 22, 2003 1:32 am

...We had TD#2, we have a strong wave in the mid 30'w, another strong system emerging from Africa (still june), and look inside the continent!! Africa is full of active weather. Very strong systems have been forming inside of Africa for a while now, and may continue doing so for the rest of the season. With this pattern going on during August and September we'll be hands full of Atlantic strong tropical systems...Maybe before!! 8-)

Hello cycloman! I know Rob and I have been harping on this for a while now, but the NE Caribbean and the east coast have a very good chance of having at least one hurricane landfall. We already mentioned that the NAO, ENSO, sea level pressure anomolies and sea surface temperature parameters were favoring a bad season for these two areas. But you can also add the Quasi Biennial Oscillation to the mix. The QBO is another factor that supports our forecast of a dangerous season along the east coast. We haven't done any research on any correlation between the QBO and Caribbean just yet...but we will get to it eventually. We're also planning on adding the QBO to our list of landfalling factors in our 2004 seasonal forecasts.

Yes Cycloman I agree with you that these signals may be a precursor of things to come by august and september and we in the caribbean will have to deal with CV systems but hopefully they go away fishing but we must be prepared for an active CV season.

Yes, there are many signals pointing to a very dangerous season ahead... and like TropicalWxWatcher said, the East Coast is at a heightened risk of getting at least 1 landfall, and that's very scary... because most of the East Coast is already wet enough... and if a hurricane or any kind of tropical system hits, it will be very disastrous... :o

I too have the feeling that this will be a bad season, I hope everyone stays safe along with excitment from tracking the storms.
