According to the Naples Daily News, Collier County will hold a meeting on Thursday to see if they will follow Lee County and issue a state of emergancy.

hhmmm......No,I think it's best to be ready and everybody in government ready to take action should this hurricane directly affect Lee County. Although Collier hasn't yet taken any action.....

To all my Lee and Collier Buddies..

I'm very interested in hearing about possible evacuation plans y'all are considering. It's so frustrating trying to decide "where and when" with the strength and angle of entry still uncertain.

With almost the whole state within the cone, choosing a place to evacuate is very difficult. Our thoughts at this point are to make 2 sets of plans...one north on the west coast (how far...dunno yet) and one on the east coast somewhat north of where the hurricane is projected to exit.

In my twenty years in Florida, (15 in Naples, 5 in Tampa) I have never experienced an incoming hurricane. To say I'm more than just a bit unerved is definitely an understatement!

Comments, suggestions??????????

Linda

Well, I've evacuated several times throughout my life here in Florida. I grew up in Everglades City so I can remember evacuating when I was little, to higher ground inland. Luckily I've never experienced a direct hit by a cane.
What I usually do is pack my pictures and some clothes. I have friends all over the state and friends in Alabama as well. So I will probably wait a few more days then decide which pal's house I'm headed to.

Unfortunately, "early" is easier said than done for us. My husband is an IT director for a fairly large company here in Naples and can't leave until he's as sure that the computers, systems, etc. are as protected as possible and necessary programs are run.

If we do leave, it will probably be as late as "reasonably" possible...not the best plan, I know.
