Central Florida Thread {West and East Coast}
Since Central Florida doesn't have a thread yet.. Maybe we should start one right here..

I don't personally think I'm over reacting.. But I do have that 1.. I just didn't see it fair that every other region has 1 lol
By all means, then let's set up one for every area in marginal risk. That will make this a really helpful board.

Not that I agree with every region having their own thread and some folks can get a little carried away , but come on, Central Florida is still in the cone and its reminded by the NHC to pay close attention. I'm feeling better here in Orlando, but we can't summarily dismiss the possibility of things changing, and a swing further up the coast is not all the far fetched at this time. Now if he were posting from an area like the panhandle for instance, then your comment would have more validity.

Yeah.
Plus, I prepare for the sun to go Super Nova, or at least to a Red Giant when there is a solar flare, so prepping for a storm that hasn't yet turned east seems like the right thing to do. Especiialy of it keeps you from chewing your nails, smoking, playing online poker or banging your head on a brick wall while we await the turn.

so, uh, what does it mean if I do all of those things (minus the brick wall -vs- head) anyway with no storm in sight? When a storm is on the horizon, I usually just turn to hard liquor.

In case he hasn't read the 11 AM discussion...here is what it says about Central Florida...........
"THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE
THREAT REMAINS FROM CENTRAL FLORIDA SOUTHWARD THROUGH THE
KEYS...AND IT IS STILL TOO EARLY TO NARROW THAT DOWN ANY FURTHER."
Therefore, this thread is just as appropriate as any of the others on this board.

It could be viewed as overreaction, or it could be viewed as responsible preparation. Yesterday at Costco in Altamonte Springs, the workers hadn't even pulled back the forklift from the new pallet of water before members started filling up their carts.
Getting beat down by 3 of the 4 hurricanes to affect Florida last year has the tendency to keep folks on their toes - appropriately so. It's better than sitting idly by and ignoring the potential threat.
Another perspective is being prepared in advance for residents who come inland from the coast. We'll have all our stuff out of the way so they can get theirs (i.e. gasoline).
For now, no nail biting here. We've been hurricane-prepped since March.
Just prayers for everyone about to experience the effects of this storm.

Folks--you must remember that Central FL is not a point. I live 60-70 miles south (as the crow flies) from Orlando and amlost equal distance from both coasts. I am still considered Central FL. Currently according to Closet Approach I would be within the area NHC says hurricane force winds could be expected. 15 of the 25 homes on my street lost their roofs last year. We may not get storm surge and we may be safer but don't discount the danger and damage we might be faced with.

Having a grumpy day, Skeet? Personally, I prefer to fill up the gas tank and get any supplies I'm out of early on so I won't have to be in any lines if the threat gets very real. And then I continually watch the skeetobite maps to know just when I am in real and present danger.
