A 140-145 mph cyclone killed 300,000 people in Bangledesh in November of 1970

It was 22....but last year hurricane Andrew was upgraded to a cat-5...making the number 23. The last category 5 in the Atlantic Basin was Mitch in 1998.

In 1943....a cat-2 hurricane approaching the upper Texas Coast
