STRONG TROPICAL WAVE APPROACHING THE LESSER ANTILLES

#1 Postby JamesFromMaine2 » Fri Oct 21, 2005 4:49 am

I don't know if theres already a thread for this or not but if not heres one! This could be Alpha in the making!

STRONG TROPICAL WAVE APPROACHING THE LESSER ANTILLES ALONG
58W/59W S OF 17N MOVING W 10-15 KT. THE WAVE IS PRODUCING AN
AREA OF SCATTERED MODERATE CONVECTION FROM 11N-17N BETWEEN
57W-62W WHICH HAS ALREADY SPREAD ACROSS BARBADOS AND PARTS OF
THE WINDWARD ISLANDS BETWEEN ST. VINCENT AND MARTINIQUE. RADAR
IMAGERY FROM MARTINIQUE SHOWS A SEMI-ENCLOSED CIRCULATION
EMBEDDED IN THE PRECIPITATION ECHOES...MOVING WWD S OF BARBADOS
TOWARDS ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES. IN ADDITION...THE WINDS
AT BARBADOS AND ST. LUCIA HAVE BEEN SUSTAINED AT 29 KT AND 23 KT
(WITH A GUST TO 37 KT AT ST. LUCIA) RESPECTIVELY OVER THE PAST
FEW HOURS. MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THE WAVE IS EXPECTED TO
SPREAD NW ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE LESSER ANTILLES TOWARDS
HISPANIOLA OVER THE NEXT 48 HRS...AND SHOULD LINGER OVER THE
AREA SUPPORTING A THREAT FOR WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS/TSTMS AT
ANY TIME OVER THE WEEKEND.

5:30am TWO: "A WESTWARD MOVING TROPICAL WAVE IS PRODUCING SHOWERS AND GUSTY WINDS
OVER PORTIONS OF THE LESSER ANTILLES. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF
TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION AT THIS TIME."

Says nothing about not being favorable for development or anything just says that it doesn't show signs of developing at this time so that means it could start to develop in the next day or two!

The funny thing is that even though I didn't sleep that well last night, the winds didn't seem so strong to me but my sister said that they were indeed strong. However, we both noticed that there was quite a bit of rain.

Right now, as I look outside my window, it's overcast with hardly any wind but the sea (about 1 Km to my south) sounds a bit rougher than usual.

It seems St. Lucia got stronger winds than we did:

Sounds to me like this wave as soon as it develops a Closed LLC will be upgraded right to Alpha with out becoming a TD first! I am surprised its not a Invest yet!
