Google earth?

#1 Postby Florida_brit » Mon Oct 24, 2005 10:46 am

Just wondering can you see the impact on Wilma on google earth? How often is it up dated?

Anyone know?

Is there anything equivalent where you can zoom in and see the areas deversated?

The images in Google Earth are not real-time. Most of them are less than a year old, but some are up to 2 years old. The only way to zoom in on GE and see damage would be to make an overlay from one of the NOAA pics, similar to what they did after Katrina.

Google Maps did have a Pre-Katrina and Post-Katrina toggle a few days after Katrina hit. Those were available at http://maps.google.com .... I'm sure they'll do that again, given the magnitude of the surge/flooding in Katrina was many-fold larger than Wilma.
